- Insulated aluminium or galvanised slat
- Openings to 5 000mm wide
- Remote and battery backup available
A roll-up garage door coils into a barrel above the opening instead of running back along the ceiling. In Edenvale that solves two problems: the older housing has garages with almost no ceiling space, and the reveals on that stock have frequently moved enough that a rigid panelled door will not sit in them.
Roll-up garage doors we supply in Edenvale
- Galvanised steel roll-up doors for durability and low maintenance.
- Aluminium roll-up doors where a lighter curtain suits the opening and the motor.
- Powder-coated finishes matched to the house or the estate specification.
- Single and double widths, built to the measured opening.
Roll-up garage doors for low-headroom garages
The barrel needs a few hundred millimetres above the opening and nothing behind it. That makes a roll-up door the practical answer through Edenvale central, Eastleigh, Illiondale and Hurlyvale, and it leaves the ceiling free for storage.
Doors for openings that are out of square
A curtain running in guides will track in an opening that a sectional door would bind in, which is one honest reason we fit so many roll-up doors on the older stock here. We measure the reveal at top, middle and bottom, and we check what the guides will fix into before quoting, because on a wall that age the fixing usually needs more thought than the door.
Manual or motorised
Most roll-up doors are motorised with a tube motor inside the barrel. It is a tidy installation with nothing hanging from the ceiling and it runs quietly. Every one we fit has a manual override, and we fit battery backup where the household cannot be caught out by an outage.
Security on a roll-up garage door
Guide depth, end locks and the bottom rail do the work. A motorised door with a locking drive position cannot be pushed up from outside. Manual doors get proper locking rather than a token catch.
Roll-up doors on workshops and small units
The trade counters and small industrial units through Sebenza, Wilbart and Eastleigh use roll-up doors on single bays constantly, because they need no headroom and are cheap to repair. On those we specify a heavier gauge and deeper guides than a domestic door.
Bottom rails and seals on low-lying stands
On properties near the spruit the bottom rail is the part that decides the life of the door. We specify a heavier rail and a proper seal there, and set the threshold so water runs away from the guide feet rather than into them.
Insulation and weather
A single-skin roll-up curtain is not insulated, and we say so rather than implying otherwise. Where a garage is used as a room, an insulated sectional door is the better product.

Common questions
About roll-up garage doors
Very little — the curtain coils into a barrel just above the opening rather than running back along the ceiling. Around 300mm to 400mm above the lintel is usually enough. This is why roll-up doors are the answer in garages with beams, storage racking or a flat roof.
Older ones are. A modern galvanised curtain with nylon guide inserts and a soft start-and-stop motor is much quieter than the rattling doors people remember. Most of the noise complaints we are called out for turn out to be dry guides or a worn barrel bearing.
Not to the standard of an insulated sectional door, because the slats have to curl. We improve it with foam-filled slats and heavier perimeter sealing, which helps with dust and noise more than heat. If the garage is attached to living space, a sectional door is the better answer.
Curtains jumping out of the guides, worn barrel bearings, broken springs inside the barrel, and rust along the bottom rail where the door stands in driveway water. All four are repairable, usually in a single visit.
